"The craving for colour is a natural necessity just as for water and fire. Colour is a raw material indispensable to life. At every era of his existence and his history, the human being has associated colour with his joys, his actions and his pleasures."
-- Fernand Leger, "On Monumentality and Color", 1943.
The joy of having a group of people working to the same theme, and yet executing ideas in totally different ways can't be overestimated - IT ROCKS. It reminds me that no matter what, we are all unique - pulled in different directions, struck by awe and splendor in too many ways to count.
I for one loved this theme. It came just as the seasons were changing, when after the cold grey winter any signs of colour are invited in with open arms and begged to stay.
The work is again phenomenal - take a look and leave some love in the comments!
"A visual representation of you, whatever form that may take"
For 8 weeks we got up close and personal with the topic of self. I don't want to write too much about our processes here (the Facebook group became a wondrous place of discussion and support) but the whole journey really became as important as the outcome of these final images.
This topic threw us all in at the deep end, made us uncomfortable and unsure in many ways, but together we found a way to swim to shore and the results have blown me away.
Thank you to all the incredible photographers who've made this project everything it is.
If you'd like to have a go at slowing things down and exploring a new topic with us - we're about to begin! Come join us here.
The Slow Photography Movement is for those who want to jump off the shooting treadmill and create photographs at a slower pace with thought and care.
